Advantages of DC Brushed DC Motor Compared with DC Brushless Motor
August 04 , 20211. Simple structure and mature technology
DC brushed motor has simple structure, easy production and processing, convenient maintenance, and easy control. The DC motor also has a fast response, large starting torque, and can provide rated torque performance from zero speed to rated speed.
2. Fast response speed and large starting torque
DC brushed motor has a fast starting response speed, large starting torque, stable speed change, and almost no vibration is felt from zero to maximum speed, which can drive a larger load when starting. The brushless motor has a large starting resistance (inductive reactance), so the power factor is small, the starting torque is relatively small, there is a buzzing sound when starting, and accompanied by strong vibration, the load is small when starting.
3. Smooth operation, good starting and braking effect
Brushed micro motor adopts voltage and speed regulation, so the starting and braking are stable, and it is also stable when running at a constant speed. Brushless motor is usually controlled by digital frequency conversion, which first changes AC into DC, then DC into AC, and controls the speed through frequency change. Therefore, the brushless motor runs unsteadily and vibrates greatly when starting and braking, and will be stable only when the speed is constant.
4. High control precision
DC brush motor has higher output power and higher control precision, and the control precision can reach 0.01 mm, which can make the moving parts stop almost at any desired place. All precision machine tools use DC motors to control precision. Because the brushless motor is unstable during starting and braking, the moving parts will stop at different positions each time, and they can stop at the desired position only through locating pins or stoppers.
5. Low cost and convenient maintenance
Due to the simple structure of the DC brush coreless motor, the low production cost, the large number of manufacturers, and the mature technology, DC brush motors are widely used, such as factories, processing machine tools, precision instruments, etc. If the motor fails, only the carbon brush needs to be replaced, and the cost of each carbon brush is very cheap. The brushless motor technology is immature, the price is high, and the application range is limited. It should be mainly used in constant speed equipment, such as inverter air conditioners and refrigerators. The brushless motor can only be replaced if it is damaged.
