一、Fan installation

1. First of all, we need to determine the installation direction of the fan. The direction of the fan installation depends on whether your cabinet needs to take in the air or discharge the hot air in the cabinet to the outside. Generally speaking, the positive pressure in the cabinet should be maintained, so the air should be introduced into the cabinet. Because if the fan exhausts air outside the cabinet, it will cause negative pressure inside the cabinet, and the outside air will directly enter through the gaps in the cabinet door. This unfiltered air enters the cabinet directly, causing dust to build up inside the cabinet over time. However, the air entering the cabinet needs to be filtered by filter cotton, which can filter out the dust in the air, so as to avoid the failure caused by dust accumulation in the cabinet. Therefore, when installing the cooling fan of the cabinet, the positive pressure is better than the negative pressure, that is, the air intake into the cabinet is better.

2. We also need to clarify the opening position of the fan. When installing the fan, the positions of its air inlet and outlet also need to be carefully considered. Because hot air is less dense than cold air, the air flow in the cabinet will be from bottom to top. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the lower part of the front door or the side panel of the cabinet is used as the air inlet, and the upper part is used as the exhaust port. However, when the hotspots of some devices are on the top or side or the front door, the cabinet cannot open holes for fans. At this time, it is necessary to open a hole on the top, and the installation direction of the fan is to exhaust the air outside the cabinet, not to enter the cabinet.

二、Fan selection

1. Air volume. If the space in the cabinet is relatively large, we'd better choose a cooling fan with a larger air volume. Because the higher the speed, the greater the air volume of the fan, so we can choose a high rpm exhaust fan.

2. Power consumption. The greater the power consumption, the shorter the fan bearing life, so if the fan has met the customer's requirements in other aspects, try to choose a cooling fan with low power consumption.

3. Noise. The cooling fan tends to generate a lot of noise when it rotates at high speed. Therefore, you need to pay attention to the performance of the cooling fan when choosing to avoid excess performance and reduce unnecessary noise.
